Plans and limits

Self-hosting is free and unlimited. On the managed backend, what Free includes, what Team adds, and what a lapsed plan does.

Running the server yourself is free and unlimited. With billing left unconfigured there is no upgrade interface and no free-tier cap of any kind. The figures below are the managed backend.

Free

  • 2 people per account and 1 synced vault.
  • Unlimited notes and embedded attachments.
  • Real-time collaboration with live cursors.
  • The MCP endpoint for your AI tools.
  • Offline work, with your files on your own disk.

Team

$10 per seat per month, or $110 per seat per year, with a minimum of three seats. Seats are managed in Account Settings, Plan and Usage, and one account covers every vault you own.

  • Everything in Free, with unlimited people, one seat each.
  • Unlimited synced vaults on one account.
  • Standalone file sync across devices, on top of the embedded attachments Free already syncs.
  • Priority support.

If a plan lapses

The account syncs read-only. Your local files stay fully editable, because they are files on your disk and nothing about them depends on a subscription.

Self-hosted limits

There are none unless you create them. If you do turn billing on, BILLING_MODEL chooses between per-vault plans and per-seat Team, and the prices, the seat minimum and the free-tier caps are all environment variables.
