Open source
Apache-2.0.
Yours to run, fork and host.
The entire Baalda desktop app and core are open source under Apache-2.0. Read every line, build it yourself, or run your own backend. The managed hosting is optional, never a lock-in.
Bring your own server
The core backend is Apache-2.0 too. Run it yourself and point the app at your own URL in Settings. It's the exact same binary everyone else uses. Your data, your infrastructure.
The managed layer
Commercial features live under ee/ (source-available; production use needs a subscription). Everything outside it is free and open. The boundary is explicit in the repo.
Auto-updates you can trust
The app verifies a signed release manifest against an embedded key before updating. Open the code and see exactly how it works. No opaque update channel.
Built in the open
File an issue, open a PR, or just watch the roadmap. Contributions and bug reports are welcome.
