How seats work

One seat per person, on one account.

Team is bought by the vault owner and covers every vault they own.

Everyone is a seat

Every person on the account is one seat, the owner included, with a minimum of 3. A pending invitation holds a seat until it is accepted, expires or is cancelled. When every seat is taken, new invitations wait until the owner adds one.

Bought in the app

The owner opens Account Settings, then Plan & Billing, picks monthly or yearly and chooses the number of seats at checkout. Seats can be added later from the same tab. No commitment, cancel anytime.

Already on Pro?

Your price does not change. Existing subscriptions move to Team at the price you pay today, shown in the app as a legacy discount. Seats you add later cost the regular Team price.

What you pay for

The app is the free part. The backend is the paid part.

One binary for everyone. The only question is who runs the server behind it.

Same app, either way

Baalda ships pointing at our managed backend by default, with an editable server URL in Settings. Self-hosters point that same binary at their own server. There is no separate community edition to downgrade to.

Self-hosting costs nothing

The core backend is Apache-2.0. Run it yourself and every collaboration feature works with no subscription. The Team plan buys the hosting and the operations, not the capability.

Your files are never hostage

Notes are plain markdown on your own disk the whole time. If you stop paying, synced vaults go read-only until you renew or get back under the Free limits. Notes stay editable on each computer and nothing is deleted.
